Awww! Nostalgia! BGCMC was my very first non-profit client. You see, many moons before I went freelance, I actually worked onsite at BGMC, in my scrappy mid-twenties, overseeing their Teen Program. This gave me an unrivaled understanding of the org, its mission and its brand culture. During their 5 years on my client list, I freelanced as BGCMC's main grant writer, sucessfully securing over a million dollars in grant funding for the org and creating management and reporting systems for all grants received (Phew! That's a lot of details to keep track of!).

In addition to grant writing, I was also tapped throughout the year to bring a creative, clever twist to other BGCMC marketing and development projects. My favorite was a fun Just Stay Home end-of-year giving campaign I created that doubled the donations of the previous year. (Oh, yeah...high fives!)

I also conceptualized, crafted and implemented the use of an extensive "Language Archive" for BGCMC. What's a Language Archive, you ask? Basically, a comprehensive archive of pre-written and org-approved language that effectively describes everything from an org's history to descriptions of their programs, events, facilities, protocol, etc. all in compliance with brand language. By having pre-approved language at the ready, every member of BGCMC's staff was empowered to communicate effectively about the programs and services the org provided while ensuring that the message was sent in a consistent, cohesive, brand-compliant voice. Language was pulled for reports, last minute donor presentations, new marketing collateral, small grant proposals, etc. It is an invaluable resource that I think no non-profit and business should be without.
